DigiLens Partners with Avegant to Deliver Compact and Manufacturable Full-Color Transparent Displays for Next-Generation AI Smartglasses

This strategic collaboration aligns cutting-edge light engine technology with the global leader in scalable waveguide manufacturing, performance, and price

Silicon Valley, CA — September 4, 2024: DigiLens Inc., a leading nanotechnology innovator in waveguide display technologies and XR smartglasses, has teamed up with Avegant, a leading expert in light engine technology, to provide transparent, efficient, and affordable displays for the next-generation of AI-enabled smartglasses. By combining DigiLens’ holographic waveguide technology with Avegant’s light engine expertise, customers can design lightweight and stylish augmented reality (AR) smartglasses, perfect for the consumer market.

Begin your evaluation journey today by purchasing an Insight Kit directly from DigiLens. The Insight Kit includes the DigiLens Crystal30 waveguides and the Avegant AG-30L2 AR light engine, allowing customers to swiftly create and view content through the module. The combination of Avegant’s light engine and DigiLens’ waveguides delivers a daylight-bright image of over 3,000nits.

“Avegant is excited to join the DigiLens ecosystem as they are known to be leaders in performance and cost for waveguides, making them an ideal partner for AI consumer smartglasses,” said Ed Tang, CEO of Avegant. “DigiLens can manufacture waveguides at scale with high yield that can enable consumer price points. The combination of DigiLens and Avegant delivers a 1,000nits display at only 75mW of illumination power”.

DigiLens’ efficient waveguides power consumer, enterprise, and industrial products like smartglasses, helmets, and other headworn devices, and can accommodate various light engines based on customer preferences. The Crystal30 is backed by DigiLens’ global licensee network, enabling large-scale volume manufacturing to meet consumer market demands.

Avegant’s AG-30L2 AR light engine is extremely compact, efficient, and high-resolution, featuring liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology with a volume as low as 1.4cc. This light engine supports small and sleek form factors and utilizes proprietary illumination technology to significantly reduce engine volume and weight while preserving efficiency and modulation transfer function (MTF).

“Light engines drive every AR product,” said Chris Pickett, DigiLens CEO. “Building upon years of light engine research, design, and manufacturing, Avegant offers cutting-edge technologies that bring compact, efficient, and manufacturable AR light engines to the marketplace.”
